Our Susi Bellamy bags with chains came about almost accidentally. We produce our fabrics by the metre and often upholster statement pieces of antique furniture to use at trade fairs - to catch the eye of passersby!

After getting a sofa covered in our Red/Blue Geode fabric, we realised we had some offcuts of the fabric leftover. Not wanting to waste the premium velvet pieces, we started to research options for creating something out of these smaller patches of fabric...

Hence, the crossbody bag was born! Using some of our bestselling designs, these bags are handmade in Britain and make a brilliant gift-item for a friend who wants something a bit different.

This sustainable style lightbulb moment has since morphed into a full collection of pieces which you could call truly 'wearable art!' given that the designs are all pulled from Susi's original paintings and hand-marbled papers.

Our bags are made in the same premium velvet as our fabrics, with a gold zipper, and feature zip toggle. All models come with an elegant gold chain (which can also be detached) and, like the rest of our range, they are printed and fully assembled in England! 

They are all lined with a waterproof lining as standard - meaning that you could convert your crossbody bag into a washbag if you wanted to. Oh, and they're washable, so you could alternate between the two uses and just refresh them when required!

They work well over a simple block colour dress - particularly when your outfit matches a colour within the bag closely like our Red/Blue Geode Bag against this scarlet red mid length dress.

Our velvet fabric is the ideal material for a bag because of its rich pigmentation and deep pile. The fabric is heavy and doesn't crease, so you don't need to feel precious about taking it on a night-out or packing it away for using when you arrive at your final destination. 

Our Blue Fantasy Bag is the perfect partner for navy blue, or if you're feeling brave you could clash it against some acidic brights in zesty yellows or fresh lime greens.

Worn across the body or tucked under the arm as a clutch, these bags are always a conversation-starter.
