The Decoupage Renaissance

Decoupage - once the reserve of the shabbiest and chicest interiors - is experiencing a revival. The twist? This time, it's with a high-end, design-led lilt. Step away from the 'upcycling projects' and into a world of curated collage.

One of the pioneers of this trend are boutique furniture customisation companies such as Re-Loved Manchester, whose dedicated Instagram following have helped to push for a reinvention of the technique.

Using carefully selected pieces ranging from turn of the century armoirs to mid century cabinets, Sarah updates furniture with prints and patterns that give them a new lease of life.

Her eclectic approach speaks to the mood of the moment: mixing and matching eras and colours with a 'more is more' styling process, She recently worked on a collboration using our Lavender Stucco Wallpaper and we were thrilled. See more of what she does on her Instagram and website.

Ann Hepper Box and our Pietra Grigia Wallpaper

Another independent creator whose craftmanship has won her clients around the globe is Ann Hepper, based in Florence, who handmakes boxes and collages them with a range of patterns. They make perfect gifts or storage boxes - that are so beautiful they become an integral part of the setting.

Tamburo Rigalina by Fornasetti

The driving force behind this revival is partly due to the pervasive influence of Italian design. Fornasetti, once a niche design brand, now has imagery seeping into every corner of fashion and interiors. Their 'cut and paste' style mixing antique drawings with marbled backdrops and surrealist illusions is the perfect blend of elegance and eccentricity.
