Susi Bellamy Shows at Maison et Objet 2019

Returning to Maison et Objet this January felt like coming home - with the support of the British European Design Group and familiar faces all around us!

We used a lighter grey colour as a backdrop for our stand this year, and it was the right choice - all four ranges of cushions displayed really stood out against this cool neutral background.

Our silk geometric range was particularly popular with shoppers from warmer climes, their lighter look and simpler prints feel cool and contemporary, whereas the velvets feel cosier and more plush.

Fellow designer Charlotte Gaisford joined us for setting up as she wanted to scope out the show herself. Her range is bohemian and created in the freshest and most uplifting Spring palette of colours.

After that, assistant Louisa joined us for a few days and had a good chance to practice her French and Italian with some exciting new European customers. For the last couple of days, close friend Sarah joined us, and was happy to test out our Red/Blue geode sofa!

The sofa was a piece we had made for the fair. We thought it would be an effective way of showcasing how one of our best-selling designs could be used to upholster an antique piece and give it a new lease of life. It was by far our most commented upon piece - with most people stopping by to give the opulent velvet a stroke!

We had some fantastic customer feedback on our new linen and cotton ranges. As we suspected, the more neutral colour palettes and organic textures will open up a new market for us in warmer climates and more pared down colour schemes.

And as for attending the show next year... you'll just have to wait and see!
