Northern Design Event Round Up & Award
I am delighted to say that Susi Bellamy is officially an award-winning interiors company, after claiming the 'Best Interiors Product' presented by Abercrombie's (Newcastle) at the opening evening of the Northern Design Event exhibition - 'Material Matters.'
The award was presented in light of our swift and exciting transition from our initial cushion range of maximalist collaged Madonnas, to a more curated range of wallpapers, lampshades, fabrics and (naturally) our luxurious signature cushions.
Our stand put our mica non-woven wallpapers centre-stage, with their coordinating lampshades and stools displayed with them. This approach allowed the subtle differences in materials to be appreciated within the same print styles, for example, the muted sheen of the wallpaper and the depth and richness of our upholstered stools.
The event had a particular focus on materials and the innovative use of both traditional substances and modern fabrications within the world of design and interiors. My personal highlight was a graphic installation by Jimmy Turrell, incorporating elements of fashion imagery and typography to create a clash of aesthetics within the crumbling but imperious Georgian setting.
I also admired Deadgood's unapologetic use of bold graphic prints and their use of on-trend gingham fabric on their high-backed chairs. Their pieces would be at home in any contemporary loft space - ultra covetable and a dash of daring!
We are looking forward to representing the North East and indeed, the interiors industry of England, during our trip to Maison et Objet to exhibit in January 2018. Keep an eye out on this blog for further details about where to find us.
